I finally visited the Ensten daymark in July 2019, long overdue.
Ensten is of a special interest to me. For over 40 years I've looked at it. The almost 15 m high red pyramid in the morning light was intriguing for a little boy.
It's not a difficult daymark, coming from north a 4 km crossing and from south 5 km, with a rather wide shipping lane on the way. As it happened, when returning I had to wait for 20 minutes for a ship to emerge from the fog and pass me, before crossing the lane.
The daymark is a pyramid shape wooden construction 14.3 m high (16.8 m over the sea), built in 1858.
It is red, except for one side outwards to the sea having a little white.
