Ten years with a fatbike

I just realized that I've had a fatbike for ten years. Time for a little retrospective.

Gravel

Finally some bike content again. I discuss why I'm a bit disillusioned about the mountain biking currently and how I've found the joy of riding again through gravel riding.

Spring packrafting in the Fiskars area

I've long looked at the area north of Fiskars with my paddling eyes. Now that I have a packraft, there are a lot more route options compared to when I looked for open canoe routes. When Caj Koskinen asked if I had any packrafting plans for the weekend, it was easy to come up with a plan.

Another packraft and overnighter

Having done a few packraft trips I came to the conclusion that the canoe I have for mainly for family use could be replaced with another packraft. Thus I ordered another packraft and put the canoe up for sale. We got to try the new packraft almost immediately when it arrived.

Spring in the archipelago

There was a short window with less wind in the middle of the week. Unfortunately I missed it and also left my phone in the car.

Packrafting Liesjärvi

The corona situation continues in Finland and everyone is to stay home, though being out in the nature where there are few other people is encouraged, as long as it happens reasonably close to home and and in a safe manner. Rescue services and hospitals do not need any extra load currently.

Caj Koskinen, one of the main figures on the Finnish packraft scene, contacted me for a trip to Liesjärvi on packraft and I naturally wanted to join, as I had no obstacles this time. Though I live about one kilometer from Caj and his wife Katja, our paths had not previously crossed, even though we roam in the same woods.

The winter that was not

Not much activity here on the blog lately. The most miserable winter for a long time is to blame, as well as some health issues (still not resolved) following the worst flu in my adult life.

A new instrument of adventure

I finally realized my plans and got a MRS Alligator 2s Pro XXL packraft.
