Happy New Year!

The year started with a nice and sunny day, something we have not been spoilt with lately. There was even a few mm of snow on the ground, enough to lighten things up. I took a ride on the Pugsley, now that the ground had hardened up a little, and checked out the storm damage on the local trails. The storm was the worst one for a long time.

One of many obstacles.

Trees in less than perfect condition just broke above the ground.

In more exposed places the roots of the trees could not withstand the force.

It was nice to be on the bike again after more than a week. I'm currently slowly recovering from a nasty flu that has been circulating in the family.

There was even ice on Lake Littoinen.

Happy New Year to everyone!

  1. Send some of that weather to the UK Peter, but not the storms:) It is very mild-12C, but plenty of days of gloom and rain.
    Happy New Year.

  2. It was certainly great opportunity today to bike riding and photography! I had, suprise, same plan for today before darkness but decided to be with my family. I will leave work earlier tomorrow if it's possible and head out to local trails. The weather forecast looks good, probably no sun but light snowfall that could set up a fantastic stage. But I'm pretty sure that there is more or less fallen trees on the trails...

  3. Happy trails to you! Great pictures again, as usually.

  4. Happy New Years! Sorry to hear that you were sick but at least you're back out on the bike. The photos are great as usual but the one of the ice crystals is really fantastic!

  5. Nice pics again, Peter! You've done lots of nice outings during 2011, looking forward to reading about your adventures in 2012.

    Gott nytt år!

  6. Like the frozen water scenes. Happy new year. Fat bikes look so good btw.

  7. Thanks for the comments everyone, and once again a happy new year!
