I finished the frame bag project tonight and the result is quite satisfying. The material came from Shelby in one day, but the actual planning and sewing took some time.
I got the some tips and ideas from the following links and figured out the rest myself:
bikepacking.net 1
bikepacking.net 2
MTBR
And the commercial alternative is of course Epic Designs.
Looks great! Don't have a framebag myself yet, but atleast I have a new look for my blog...
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm really satisfied with the result. I will probably do a short overnighter sometimes next week to test everything.
ReplyDeleteWhat made you decide to DIY instead of buying?
ReplyDeleteI had two reasons: It was a lot cheaper to make one myself, maybe 30 € for the material versus about 150 € for one from Revelate Design. The second reason was that I made one myself during five evenings while the kids played (and fought) and ordering a custom one it would have taken several month to get it.
ReplyDeleteI'm still very satisfied with it (I made one improvement on the Pugsley version, though), but my buddy Toni has one from Revelate Design that naturally is a lot better made.
